Position Summary
The South Berkeley Fire District is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Firefighter. This position is responsible for emergency response activities, and supporting the district’s mission of protecting life and property.
Shift Schedule: 48 hours on/96 hours off
Compensation
- Annual Equivalent: $42,391.00 (before built-in overtime and holiday pay) depending on qualifications.
- Additional compensation includes built-in overtime and holiday pay.

Minimum Qualifications
- IFSAC Firefighter II
- Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT)
- Basic Auto Extrication or equivalent
- NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
- Valid CPR/First Responder Certification (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of Probationary Firefighter Task Book (completed post-hire)
- Successful completion of Probationary Exam (completed post-hire)
- Successful completion of physical agility test (given at time of interview)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Respond to fire, EMS, rescue, and related emergency incidents
- Conduct apparatus checks, maintenance, and documentation
- Participate in required training, drills, and continuing education
- Maintain compliance with District policies, SOPs, and safety standards
