Full-time Firefighter

Position Summary

The South Berkeley Fire District is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Firefighter. This position is responsible for emergency response activities, and supporting the district’s mission of protecting life and property.

Shift Schedule: 48 hours on/96 hours off

Compensation

  • Annual Equivalent: $42,391.00 (before built-in overtime and holiday pay) depending on qualifications.
  • Additional compensation includes built-in overtime and holiday pay.

Minimum Qualifications

  • IFSAC Firefighter II
  • Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT)
  • Basic Auto Extrication or equivalent
  • NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • Valid CPR/First Responder Certification (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of Probationary Firefighter Task Book (completed post-hire)
  • Successful completion of Probationary Exam (completed post-hire)
  • Successful completion of physical agility test (given at time of interview)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire, EMS, rescue, and related emergency incidents
  • Conduct apparatus checks, maintenance, and documentation
  • Participate in required training, drills, and continuing education
  • Maintain compliance with District policies, SOPs, and safety standards
